I pushed myself this week to finish a scene so that a chapter would be more or less complete (first draft, that is). Even though I was busy with unpacking and starting a new writing class (Advanced Speculative Fiction), I managed to write almost 1,100 words.
Sometimes new writing takes a long time to emerge, if I need to understand how a character will react in a situation or if research is required to “see” a new place or flesh out backstory. When I have action and motivation clear in my head, however, things flow swiftly.
The next part to write will be slow, I expect. Werewolves will transform at the full moon, run in the forest, and run into trouble. Fun, fun, fun.
